In 2010, mastermind Japan announced that it would close its doors in three years. The label, which had gained cult-like followership for being on the forefront of luxury streetwear, gained notoriety for its use of high-quality fabrics and hardware. Few before Masaaki Homma, mastermind Japan’s designer, were utilizing silk and cashmere in their street style offerings, and those who did have last names like Simons and Owens.
Now, six years after the label declared its closing, the storied brand lands at RSVP Gallery. The new line comes in collaboration with A.Girl’s, a well-versed manufacturer of over 75 years, offering only the finest raw materials. The ethos of both teams is a fitting match and is executed beautifully in a fresh offering of graphic tees, shirts with contrast stitching and patch appliqués, a pair of mastermind Japan x Oakley Frogskin sunglasses, and an oversized black knit hoodie, which serves as the quintessential centerpiece in the collection.
A selection of graphic tees is available online while the rest of the collection can be found in-store at RSVP Gallery. Email [email protected] for more info or call +1(773) 770-6666 for phone orders.
