Whether you want to believe it or not, summer is here in full force and RSVP has a fresh grip of footwear to add to your rotation. Low tops have gained ever-increasing notoriety and are at the helm of our focus for the season. Easily paired with shorts or trousers, lows can be utilized to accent your fit or set it off as a head-turning staple.

The focus here is on neutral color shoes. From the simple luxury of the Adidas Samoa to the stripes on the Off-White leather sneakers, keeping the color palette simple makes these sneakers an effortless flex. The Adidas Oddity Luxe pack offers a cream color scheme and head turning mixed media details. Raf Simons’ Adidas Ozweego is at the top of its class with a perfect pop of pink detail and iconic silhouette.

“Don’t waste time being nervous,” says Virgil Abloh deciphering his newest Off—White men’s collection,  “Don’t Look Down.” While easier said than done, we’ll take Abloh’s word for it, whose endless list of accolades includes a recent placement as a finalist for the acclaimed LVMH Prize. For the Autumn/Winter ’15 season, Abloh’s theme of personal ascension was translated literally into a fictional rugged mountain climber’s uniform. While obviously impractical for the great outdoors, “Don’t Look Down” continues Abloh’s exploration of the gray area between luxury fashion and the sensible essence of streetwear. A combo that has proved to be the right gear for our own ascent in our skyscraper interpretation of the outdoors.

The word “streetwear” is always up for discussion and in recent times “elevated” has been prefixed to the style of clothing. While the label modification can be a brand’s easy way out of the pigeonhole, actions speak louder than words and in this case “labels.” Elevated streetwear holds on to the styling cues from the once underground genre and reinterprets them with elements once only known to traditional high-fashion. Whether in the quality of materials or the ideas being executed through the product, the successful intersection of these two styles of fashion can best be seen from Fear of God, OFF—White, and pioneering label of “streetwear” itself, BAPE. After all, who could say “no” to quality clothing with the comfort level ideal for a run to your nearest bodega? New York’s London Zhiloh didn’t as she led the RSVP team around the Big Apple.

Off–White c/o Virgil Abloh Windbreakers

Not your everyday windbreaker, the Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh windbreaker features a rip-stop nylon that uses a special reinforcing technique, making them resistant to tearing and ripping. During weaving, reinforcement threads are interwoven at regular intervals in a crosshatch pattern that results in a beautiful and geometric design.  The pattern is very similar to the modernist windows in the iconic Mies van der Rohe Farnsworth house, a source of inspiration for the collection.
