Often thought to be a Fall/Winter piece, flannels have made their presence felt in this year’s round of Spring/Summer collections. Although most people will be shedding their layers, having flannels in your arsenal can provide a great finishing touch.

This season, designers have gone away from traditional drab offerings and countered with a fresh mix of bright colors and clean monotones in lightweight fabrics. Elongated, oversized, and flowing fits allow breathability and justify the additional layer, even during the summer.

Fear of God Flannel (Blue): First Fear of God Flannel that doesn’t feature side zippers. It delivers an elongated body with drop shoulder to add comfort and volume.

Mr. Completely Banded Collar Shirt (Orange): Boasts a mandarin collar and front pockets along with a loose fit.

Public School Double-sleeve Mandarin Shirt (Red): Layered sleeve detail with a mandarin collar and traditional shirttail hem. Also features a shoulder yoke in back.

A.P.C. Trevor Plaid Shirt (Green): Touting a large front chest pocket and a curved hem, this flannel is made of a blend of cotton, linen, and ramie, giving it a super-soft feel that resists wrinkling.

Pierre Balmain Check Shirt (Black/White): Features a traditional fit and shirttail with button cuffs and a spread collar.

Mastermind Button-Up Shirt (Black/White): A fresh twist on the gingham pattern with oversized checks. Also features a drop-tail rounded hem in the back.

Although we’re always fans of the classic and timeless, what would fashion be without seasonal trends? Boring is what. From the runway to the streets, here are the top trends we’re getting on board with for the Spring/Summer 2015 season.

  1. DENIM

Double up on denim. The Canadian tuxedo is in and who better for the job than Parisian label Pierre Balmain?

  1. TEXTURE

In the colder months it is a no-brainer, in the spring it is refreshingly unexpected. Go with KVA’s suede bomber or Christopher Kane’s Pages tee.

  1. PRINT

From stripes to paisley and everything in between, add visual interest to your look with print. 3.1 Phillip Lim’s vertical stripes caught our eye.

  1. COLOR

Wearing all black in the winter is inevitable; do a 180 in bold, colorful options. KRISVANASSCHE and Raf Simons agree.
