New York City-based label Robert Geller helped debut the newly established Men’s Fashion Week with his Spring/Summer 2016 collection.  For the season, Geller pays homage to the windy summers of his upbringing by the North Sea. The collection sources inspiration from the water, wind, and billowing sails, but don’t expect simple navy stripes from Geller. Geller’s S/S ’16  collection saw silhouettes with an emphasis on movement crafted from worn-in washed fabrics that imitated alterations made by the sun and salt water. In typical Rober Geller fashion, the wet haired male cast was heavily layered. Lightweight silks and linen’s were monochromatically paired and accented with texture in the form of sailor’s rope  or wool caps.

Lessons in Layering w/ RSVP

As residents of a city that has more cold weather days than not, we know a thing or two about layering. Although the act of piling clothes on might seem like a natural instinct in cold temperatures, making it look good is what requires some thought process. As inspired by Robert Geller’s NYFW ’15 presentation we’re playing with proportions. The fitted KRISVANASSCHE’s Hybrid Tee acts as the primary layer, while creating the illusion of a t-shirt being placed over a longer dress shirt. We’re compensating for the faux layering with a thick thermal lined hoodie from T by Alexander Wang. The slightly elongated Selo bomber from Acne Studios balances out the slightly cropped lounge pants from Robert Geller Seconds. Our warm but stylish look is finished with a wool baseball cap from Givenchy and the Adidas x Rick Owens Springblade low sneakers.

New York City was the place to be last week and naturally we made the short trip from our headquarters in Chicago to the east coast. The city that never sleeps was even more lively than usual as both New York Fashion Week and All-Star weekend took over the streets. We kick started our week at the highly anticipated Kanye x Adidas presentation. With Adidas giving the reigns of creativity to its collaborators, we’re not surprised Kanye’s capsule collection was monochromatic perfection.  On Saturday, we put the fashion shows on pause to show love to the Just ★ Don All-Star Weekend pop-up shop hosted inside the Jordan 30th anniversary exhibit. Our second stop was at Robert Geller. Geller’s models truly demonstrated how not to sacrifice style for warmth for the A/W ’15 season with effortless layering focused on proportions. Last on the agenda was Hood by Air and although we’ve come to expect their outlandish presentations it definitely doesn’t make them any less interesting. HBA designer Shayne Oliver continues his mastery of dichotomies, as seen on fur coats with box logos, male models in skirts, and generally clean cut tailoring with streetwear accents.

RSVP Gallery is proud to welcome Robert Geller, a German-born American Fashion Designer based in New York. The menswear label under his own name is known for providing simple, high-quality clothing that typically feels a little foreign. Every Robert Geller collection is inspired by specific places and eras throughout time; the results, however, are modern and sophisticated pieces made for daily wear, and the aesthetic a romantic European elegance mixed with a rough New York edge. Below we present the Robert Geller Autumn/Winter ’14 collection editorial, now available at RSVP Gallery.
